Viva X Emergency: Silent Art Auction & Live Art Showcase

Viva LA is an organization that creates fundraisers for great programs like Emergency USA. Emergency USA helps victims of war and poverty. I made the special Coffee Art logo piece for this fundraiser, and 100% of the sale will go to the organization.

I will be doing a live Coffee Art demonstration at the event, and people will be able to contribute to the piece as it is made. It will be a collaboration of the event attendees!

Super Cool Art Find:

New Wooden Cityscapes Sculpted with a Bandsaw by James McNabb

Furniture-maker-turned-sculptor James McNabb opened a new exhibition titled “Metros” at Robert Fontaine Gallery in Miami. McNabb explores architectural shapes using an improvised form of woodworking described as “sketching with a bandsaw.”

This is my newest Coffee Art piece – one of the two largest I have ever done. It is two panels, measuring 5 feet X 5 feet. It is at once the burst of energy you get from coffee, and the flower of the coffee tree. Working with coffee has been a 10 year experiment with nature, allowing the evaporation and sediment process to partially guide the end result.
This is another preview for a new series I am working on called “Pareidolia” – look for all the faces you can see!
