“The Human Spirit” Sculpture Project – Lead Artist and Project Manager. Commissioned by the Los Angeles League of Arts, “The Human Spirit” is a welded steel sculptural representation of the spirit that unites all people. It is a dual bodied Being holding a ring of fire, the circle of unbroken unity, with phoenix wings. It is designed to spin when inside extreme 3,000 degree heat as the hot air rises through the fan blade-like tilted wings. The Human Spirit was hidden inside “Seraphim,” a 20 foot tall wooden sculpture representing all the races of man. Seraphim burned away to reveal “The Human Spirit,” that which unites all people regardless of ethnicity and culture. The sculpture was kept a secret, and the burn event was attended by 1,200 people who had participated in decorating Seraphim by writing messages of memory for loved ones, of peace, and of hope. The sculpture was designed to fit inside Seraphim and was crane lifted into the built wooden structure. Over 30 artists, craftsmen, fundraisers, and other volunteers have participated in the project. Today, the sculpture is the official representation of our Los Angeles Burning Man community, and travels from event to event. A fire effect and motor have been added to the sculpture so that it spins on its own, and sits in a base of roaring flames.

“We Will Build A Tree” Project and Non-Profit Organization – Co-Founder of For Purpose Organization seeking to build Maker Spaces in conflict areas worldwide, creating a connected communication network for peace conversations between all people through building educational workspaces. By creating projects based on sustainable design, we hope to create peace and sustainability leadership locally where it is most needed. With the slogan “World peace in our lifetime while we are young enough to enjoy it!” We Will Build A Tree believes as Artists we are de facto leaders in the Peace Movement. It is our goal that through art and technology we can positively effect the world by creating unique Monuments to World Peace, that are training projects for all the parts of a sustainable community. From structural design, electrical, and welding to solar energy and telecommunications these 40 foot Tree sculptures are built to attract those most interested in moving their community forward in a positive way. The sculpture showcases the collective voices of children from across the nations calling out a Hymn for Peace from the bird's speakers three times a day - radiating out a call for peace. The audience will interface with the sculpture through live video links allowing free communication across the world to other Tree sculpture locations – a designated social communication network for peace talks among normal people.

“The Mars Rover Art Car” - Primary Member of “DWOM” – Multidisciplinary Build Group of Artists, Engineers, Scientists, and Enthusiasts. DWOM made “The Mars Rover Art Car” for science education in schools and community science advocacy. We built the Mars Rover Art Car as a tribute to the success of the Curiosity Rover that landed on Mars on August 5, 2012. Many of the members come from the Los Angeles League of Arts and other art cars builds, but the project is supported by people from all over the United States via the Internet collaboration tools. Although the primary purpose is an artistic representation of the Mars Curiosity Rover, the secondary purpose will be to provide education and awareness of space exploration, and our place in the universe. The Desert Wizards of Mars also have a few JPL employees* lending their artistic and technical experience to the project.
